Bolivia to Reconstruct
Damage Zones
Bolivian President Evo
Morales called Monday
departmental prefects of
Beni and Santa Cruz, the
most damage zones by the
climate phenomenon known
as "La Nina," to analyze
the reconstruction plans
of those regions.
Morales said that, apart
from political
differences, the agenda
will focus on measures
to assist thousands of
victims due to flood and
rehabilitation programs
in those territories.
According to the
statesman, damages
related to natural
disasters occurred in
the last three years
have increased, with
greater impact in the
northeastern region of
the Andean country.
The president was also
grateful to state media
for supporting
solidarity campaigns
with 59,000 victims of
the storm, whipping
Bolivia since November,
and killing 57 people.
The Service for
Emergency Operation (SOE)
in Beni warned Sunday
that despite the danger
for a total flood in
Trinidad city is moving
away, the mass of water
could affect other
northern Bolivian
regions.
The SOE also reported
that over 12,000
families in Trinidad
live in improvised camps
and health authorities
have already reported
some epidemics in the
area.
Rains and flooding in
Bolivia due to La Nina
climate phenomenon have
also disappeared four
and affected 59,602
families, according to
information from the
