Cianchette Nominated As Ambassador to Costa Rica
Peter Cianchette, the National Committeeman for the Maine Republican Party and former candidate for governor, has been nominated as the U.S. ambassador to Costa Rica by President George W. Bush.

Cianchette serves as a partner at CHK Capital Partners, a strategic planning firm.

Cianchette said Wednesday that he can't comment on the pending nomination until it has gone through the U.S. Senate.

Trey Bohn, a White House spokesman, said there is broad bipartisan support for Cianchette's nomination. He said he is not sure of Cianchette's background in Latin American issues. It was Cianchette's extensive experience in the public and private sectors that made him an appealing candidate, Bohn said.
