"Costa Rican Resort
Nightmare" Headline in
Canada
Canada CTV News is
telling Canadians of how
a Costa Rican winter
getaway is turning into
a nightmare for a number
of Canadians with the
closing of the Allegro
Papagayo hotel in
Guanacaste.
The report says that the
Gran Papagayo was closed
as well, citing that two
large resorts in San
José were evacuated
leaving guests escaping
the cold weather of
north stranded.
In fact, only the
Allegro has been shut
down by Costa Rican
health officials when
the hotel did not comply
with an order to stop
dumping raw sewage into
the local river, causing
health concerns for the
residents of the area.
Occidental Resorts which
owns and operates the
Allegro Papagayo has
informed guests with
reservations that it
will offer relocation or
refunds and will not be
accepting new
reservations until March
2.
