Another Round of Gas Hikes Approved
The Autoridad Reguladora de Servicios Públicos (Aresep) yesterday approved the latest request by the state refinery to increase gasoline prices.

The price of a litre of super gasoline will jump by ¢10 colones, regular ¢9 and diesel ¢3.

The new prices are expected to go into effect next week, possibly Tuesday, the day after it is published in the official government publication, La Gaceta.

Super gasoline will go from the current ¢562 to ¢572 colones per litre, regular from ¢551 to ¢560 and diesel from ¢521 to ¢524.

The Refinadora Costarricense de Petroleo SA (Recope) says that the increase requested was due to the constant rise in the cost of crude oil on world markets.
