IN BRIEF...
Zapote Fair Nets Profit
The Municipalidad de San
José said yesterday that
the annual Zapote Fair
goers left behind ¢204
million colones
(us$202.000) in profits,
not counting the ¢22
million from taxes
levied on fair operators
and the ¢131 million
colones value of the
redondel "bull ring".
¢102 million of the
profits will go to the
Hospicio de Huérfanos
(orphanage), ¢15 million
to Zapote schools and
¢87 million will be used
for community projects.
The big question on
everyone's mind is who
did the municipality
pull of the profit when
in the past it seemed
impossible and placed
the annual fair in
jeapordy.
