Bolivia Zapping Drug Traffickers
Bolivia's Special Force against Drug Trafficking confirmed Saturday that in the first month of 2008, they seized more than 186 tons of drugs, especially marijuana and cocaine base, which confirms a greater struggle against these illegal activities.

Colonel Rene Sanabria, the head of the institution, told Prensa Latina that in 31 days, 910 operations in different regions of Bolivia were carried out, which permitted the destruction of a chemical lab, 380 factories and 616 grinding devices.

The same way, Sanabria said 351 citizens from different nationalities, 330 of them from Bolivia and 21 from other nations were arrested and their files sent to the Bolivian Public Ministry to be legally processed.

Among the regions with most traffic, Sanabria mentioned the departments of Cochabamba, La Paz, Chuquisaca and Potosi.

He stated Bolivia is a transit area for cocaine produced in Peru to enter markets in Argentina, Brazil and Chile.
