Immigration Takes Action Against Illegals
Saturday morning it was Tamarindo's turn. Today, tomorrow and the next is unknown, as immigration officials descend on beach communities to identify and control illegal foreigners in the country.

Along with the Policía de Migración, members of the Fuerza Pública, OIJ and other police agencies all partook in the morning police action to determine the status of the large number of foreigners in the area.

Along with the immigration action, authorities were in search of narcotics.

Using roadblocks and visiting a number of discos and bars in Tamarindo, authorities asked for identification and documentation to ascertain legal status.

75 foreigners were found to not to have their documents on hand, some were taken to the local police station.

Authorities say they will be visiting other communities during the coming days, communities like Tamarindo where drug trafficking is a problem and the presence of illegals.
