Nicaragua, Japan Sign Health, Agriculture Accords
The governments of Japan and Nicaragua signed on Friday cooperation accords in the health and agricultural sectors with a total of 4.8 million U.S. dollars.

Nicaraguan Foreign Minister Samuel Santos and Japanese ambassador in Nicaragua, Shinichi Saito, signed the accords.

The accords include aid with assets to poor farmers, improvement of coffee farm roads and the donation of 34 ambulances to the Central American country.

In the area of agriculture, one of the accords will benefit the small and medium producers with the sale of fertilizers through the Rural Development Institute.

Another accord in the agricultural sector aims to improve the conditions of 191.3 km of coffee farm road in the northern departments of Matagalpa and Jinotega, which was affected by the hurricane Felix and floods, with an investment of over 1 million dollars, said Saito.

Saito said the fertilizer cooperation will be of 280 million yens (some 2.5 million dollars).
