Confiscated Tuna To Be Auctioned
The 280 tonnes of tuna that was confiscated off a Panamanian fishing boat that was apparently fishing illegally off the Isla del Coco, will be auctioned off. The Fiscalía (prosecutor's office) handed over the confiscated fish to the Instituto Costarricense de Pesca y Acuicultura (INCOPESCA) which will sell off the product to the highest bidder.

The value of the haul is estimated at ¢1 billion colones (us$2 million).

Majority of Professionals Do Not Pay Taxes
According to a report by Telenoticias, thousands of doctors, lawyers and accountants evade paying income tax on their earnings, as a recent study reveals that six out of ten professionals pocket all their earnings, on average declaring an annual income of ¢25.000 (us$50).

Tomato War Tomorrow
The traditional tomato fair in San José de Trojas de Valverde Vega is on. Although visitors to the community can buy tomatoes cheap, the main attraction is the "war of the tomatoes". Some 4.000 kilos of tomatoes will be on hand for adults and children to take part in the traditional "atomatados" - throwing tomatoes at each other.

The Trojas de Valverde Vega is located some 7 kilometres from Sarchí, northwest of Grecia and the fair will continue until February 10. The tomato war is tomorrow (Sunday) at 2:00pm.
