Panama Electoral Process
Underway
Panama - The Panamanian
electoral process is
gaining space with the
official call for
general elections and
polls that reveal the
voting intentions with
respect to different
political parties.
This Wednesday, the
Electoral Tribunal will
proceed to a formal call
for the elections, to
mark the beginning of a
process that will have
30 days after the start
of political campaigns.
The only thing left will
be the Ethics Agreement
supported by the
Panamanian Episcopal
Conference, after the
consensus of the
political organizations.
The signing of this
document could be done
at the start of next
year, but it depends on
solving the differences
between the Democratic
Revolutionary Party (PRD),
Panamanian Democratic
(CD) and others.
Along with that, the
most recent poll done by
the Dichter and Neira
firm has the opposition
politician Ricardo
Martinelli heading up
the preferences of the
voters with 41.3
percent.
The study done at the
request of TVN and Omega
Stereo, leaves governing
politician Balbina
Herrera in second place
with 31.4 percent,
followed by Juan Carlos
Varela with 16.8
percent.
The analysis was done
under a simulated voting
system between the 28th
and 30th of November,
upon notice of the
inclusion of the
capital´s mayor, Juan
Carlos Navarro, to the
PRD presidential ticket.
