Several Trade Missions
Visit U.S., Boost
Business
(Infocom) — Costa Rican
businessmen continue
opening doors in the
U.S. market thanks to
several trade missions
they have recently
conducted.
For example, the Costa
Rican Foreign Trade
Promoter (Procomer)
organized a trip for
exporters of precision
components and
engineering services to
Houston, from July
28-30, and to Austin,
from July 30-Aug. 2. The
missions sought to
discover trade
opportunities and create
linkages between local
businessmen and
potential buyers in the
United States.
“We decided to organize
this exporters’ mission
to Houston because this
is the fourth largest
city in the United
States and it
concentrates a large
number of corporations
in the petroleum,
aerospace and technology
industries,” said Alvaro
Piedra, Procomer
international marketing
manager. “Additionally,
this mission will
generate more than 50
business appointments
and visits to plants and
fabrication shops, which
undoubtedly is a
strategy to diversity
our export supply to our
main trade partner.”
The mission was
coordinated with support
from the Hispanic
Chamber of Commerce of
Houston, with which
Procomer had previously
established a
cooperation agreement.
Participating in the
mission were Costa Rican
Aerospace Suppliers
Alliance (CORAAL), which
is a consortium of five
companies that provide
mechanical design
services and precision
parts for the aerospace
industry; Ryan
Ingeniería S.A.;
Westomatic; Extralum;
and Dimmsa.
In addition to the Texas
missions, next Oct.
19-24, a group of Costa
Rican business owners
will have the chance to
travel to Florida to
establish trade
relations with new
providers, meet
representatives of
brands for distribution
in Costa Rica, and get
to know franchises
interested in entering
the local market. |
