Costa Ricans Believe
Arias Doing a Good Job
Half way through his
term, since taking
office on May 8, 2006,
Costa Rican president,
Oscar Arias, is getting
good marks for his
performance.
In the latest poll taken
by Demoscopía, Costa
Ricans believe that
Arias is keeping his
campaign promises and is
managing the country's
purse strings well.
Entering his third year
in office, 44.2% of
those polled gave Arias
a "buena" (good), while
42.1% said "regular" and
only 13.2% said "mala"
(bad) grade.
Last July the
president's rating was
38.6%, 46.4% and 14.4%,
respectively.
Costa Ricans believe
that Arias is
responsible, has
character, is capable
and projects a message
of optimism.
The poll found that
83.6% have the opinion
that Arias is clear on
the goals and objectives
for the country and 81%
believe he knows the
reality in Costa Rica.
The poll took in the
opinion of 1.202 Costa
Ricans over the age of
18, between April 3 and
17, 2008 and living in
all parts of the
