Fiscal General Seeks
Another Term
The Fiscal General de la
República (chief
prosecutor), Francisco
Dall'anesse, said
yesterday he wants to
stay at his post for
another four years and
vowed to better national
security and fight
corruption.
Dall'anesse, whose term
ends next month, said
that before making his
decision got the support
of his family and
received a number of
calls from prosecutors
who asked him to stay
on.
"The most important is
to fight organized
crime, so as not to get
to a level of
delinquency that is
lived in other
countries; at times
people have to be
patient, because we
cannot do our job
without fully
investigating a case",
said Dall'anesse.
Dall'anesse faces
hurdles to his
re-election like the
controversial case of
the murder of journalist
Ivannia Mora and the
long drawn out trial of
the murder of Parmenio
Medina. The chief
prosecutor assures that
these cases are not a
stain on his record,
although he agreed that
it was not his place to
qualify his own work.
The Supreme Court is
expected to make a
decision by November 5
on whether to re-elect
Dall'anesse or elect
another Fiscal General.
Dall'anesse's term ends
on November 30. |
