Government  Offices To Close For Christmas Starting Dec. 22
The government announced yesterday that all government offices and agencies will close for the Christmas holiday on December 22 and re-open on January 3, 2008, according to the ministro de la Presidencia, Rodrigo Arias.

Arias, in his directive, also said that Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad (ICE) workers who strike next Monday (November 26) will have their pay docked for the missed day, and so will any other government employee who takes the day off to join the ICE protest.

Minister Arias also confirmed that the first us$20 million dollars donated by the government of China is now in the vault of the Ministerio de Hacienda. The money was donated to help those affected by the heavy rain and flooding of the last several months.
