Andean Summit to Build Cooperation
The 17th Summit of Member Nations in the Andean
Community of Nations (CAN), foreseen for June 14
in the southern department of Tarija, will fight
for more cooperation, assured an official source
on Tuesday.
According to the general director of the bloc,
Adalis Contreras, the head of states meeting
will be preceded by the meeting of the Andean
Integration System, aimed at strengthening this
body.
Foreign Ministers and Trade representatives from
Bolivia, Ecuador, Colombia and Peru will also
hold prior meetings, he emphasized.
Tarija summit has aroused a great interest, so
members of the Southern Common Market (MERCOSUR)
have been invited too, said Contreras.
He highlighted the work of CAN pro-Tempore
president Bolivia in integration and
international relations, led by President Evo
Morales.
This includes strengthening of association links
with the European Union and other nations of the
continent, and Morales has come out in favor of
changing trade forms to approach fair exchange.
