Central America, CARICOM Talk Free Trade
Representatives from the Caribbean Community (CARICOM)
and Central America will begin a two-day meeting
in Panama Tuesday to foster a free trade
agreement.
The members of CARICOM and CA-6 (the six Central
American countries) will agree on a general
framework for negotiations, venues, and number
of rounds to be held, according to a release by
the trade and industries ministry (MICI).
The two regions account for a potential market
of 49.2 million consumers.
The initiative to foster a free trade deal was
agreed upon in the meetings of chiefs of state
and governments of the Central American
Integration System, on February 22 and May 12,
MICI informed.
