Wave of Domestic Violence Continues
With six dead women in the past week and one man, who has stabbed to seven times by his future wife to whom he had just proposed, authorities are being kept busy with cases of domestic violence, which has sharply increased in the week ahead of Semana Santa.

Yadira Gutiérrez Rocha, who was drunk while celebrating the marriage proposal by her boyfriend, Evelio Cerdas Prado, moments earlier, decided to stab the man seven times sending him to hospital where he is in stable condition.

The owner of the apartment where the couple were celebrating told the press that the couple had lived together for more than two months and just before midnight she heard shouts and screams, part of an argument and then the screeching of a police vehicle tires.

Apparently the couple had been drinking all afternoon, celebrating their impending nuptials, when for reasons still unknown the violent attack on the man occurred and Yadira fled the scene, captured by police hours later.

Last weekend, five women died at the hands of their better half, two of which were gunned down in the middle of the streets in San José and Limón, followed by the suicide of the attacker.

Last night, victim number six died in hospital after being in intensive care following the attack of her boyfriend in the Tibás.
