Panama Seizes Over Half Ton
Drugs
The Panamanian National Police
seized 1,431 pounds of cocaine
and 22 of heroin during an
operation last week, sources
from the institution revealed on
Monday.
The drugs were being transported
in a panel truck blocked near
the toll booth of Arraijan-La
Chorrera freeway, west of the
capital.
A Panamanian identified as
Misael Miranda was arrested in
the operation.
Anti-drug authorities have
confiscated great quantities of
drugs this month, including this
week 692.25 pounds of cocaine
snagged in Coronado and 20 tons
on board a vessel arrested near
Coiba Island, in the Panamanian
Pacific.
Panama is used as a bridge of
drug trafficking from southern
producing nations to Europe and
the United States, the main
world consumer.
