Gasoline More Expensive Today
If you didn't fill you gas tank last night, today super and regular gasoline will cost you more, following the publication of last weeks price increase approval in the official government publication, La Gaceta.

The price of a litre of super and regular gasoline jumped ˘34 colones with the resetting of the pumps at the stroke of midnight. Diesel prices were not affected in this latest round of increases.

Today a litre of super gasoline costs ˘517 colones, up from ˘483 and regular costs ˘493, up from ˘459. A litre of diesel stays the same at ˘362.

Aviation fuel prices also jumped last night.

The increase is based on a request by the state monopoly known as Refinadora Costarricense de Petróleo (RECOPE) as it adjusts its prices due to fluctuations of the price of crude oil on world markets.

The price increase means an extra ˘1.530 colones (us$2.94) to fill a 45 litre tank.
