Nicaragua Erasing Neolib
Hangover
Nicaraguan Foreign Minister
Samuel Santos asserted on
Wednesday that his country's
government, together with the
people, will erase the damage
caused to that nation by
implementation of neoliberal
policies for 15 years.
Santos granted an interview to
Prensa Latina, after having the
floor in the high level segment
of the 4th Human Rights Council
Ordinary Session Period, which
is currently developed in this
Swiss city.
He explained that the previous
administrations led a large
sector of the Nicaraguan
population to a situation of
hunger, and highlighted that
thousands of farmers are unable
to produce, due to lack of
official support.
They just have the piece of land
the Sandinista Front gave them
in the 80s and the constant
threat of losing it, due to
landowners actions, which show
their desire to take possession
that land back, he said.
The Nicaraguan Foreign Minister,
a former Sandinista National
Liberation Front (FSLN) leader,
referred to the plans President
Daniel Ortega and his team have
began to develop.
"We have started with the
priorities against hunger and
facilitation of education and
health for all Nicaraguans," he
explained.
