Hondurans Flock to City Slums
Annual emigration to Honduran urban and industrialized areas totals 500,000 people, says the National Institute of Statistics.

The report says the goal is to improve their economic status, yet most end up in the belt of slums and poverty surrounding the main cities.

The displaced, 45.6 percent men and 54.4 women from 15 to 29 years-old from Valle, Copan and Santa Barbara Departments namely, head basically to Colon (36.5 percent), Cortes (34.4) and Francisco Morazan (20).
