Costa Rica Hosts Agriculture
Event
The Fifth World Conference of
the Global Consortium of Higher
Education and Research in
Agriculture (GCHERA) started in
Costa Rica on Monday, attended
by almost 200 experts from over
50 countries.
The meeting is expected to
analyze issues related to
agricultural labor, poverty in
rural zones, environmental
degradation and technological
innovation, authorities from the
Agriculture School for the Humid
Tropic Region stated.
According to organizers,
participants in the event will
also debate business management,
relations between government and
university and natural
resources.
To run until March 8 here, the
conference will also have the
presence of representatives from
several regional cooperation and
financial institutions.
The GCHERA emerged during the
1998 scientific conference in
Kiev, Ukraine, and brings
together nearly 400 universities
and research centers in
agriculture from one hundred
countries.
Sources recall that, in its
prior edition, experts in those
issues met in Hangzhou, People's
Republic of China.
