Cherishes Hemingway Notes
Cuban
specialists announced Friday the discovery of
unpublished notes by US writer Ernest Hemingway
found in Finca Vigia, his residence in Havana
for over 20 years.
The announcement made at an international event
consists of notes dated 1942 to 1953 on his
weight, sports, healthcare and statistics.
Elisa Serrano, specialist of Cuba's National
Center of Conservation, Restoration and
Museology, said the notes were hidden under four
layers of paint on the wall of his private
bathroom.
Another discovery has been the original color of
the house, to show Hemingway's architectural
taste, as part of CENCREM project for its
capital restoration and preservation.
The Museum also treasures books, over 600 love
letters he exchanged with his wife Mary Welsh,
clothing, works of art and sharp instruments.
Sandra Spanier, professor of the University of
Pennsylvania, is director of the project Letters
of Hemingway project sponsored by the writer's
family.
She said the project includes historic files on
Hemingway's private life, stored since 2002, of
nearly 7,000 letters of the famous writer and
announced a compilation coming out in the early
2009.
