Costa Rican Women's Volleyball Team Swept By USA
Tracy Stalls recorded six kills, three blocks and two ace serves as the U.S. women's national volleyball team rolled past Costa Rica 25-14, 25-15, 25-13 on the second day of the Sixth Pan American Cup Friday.

Team USA hiked its record to 2-0. The squad, which is ranked second in the latest FIVB world ratings, will challenge 2006 nemesis Dominican Republic today at 4 p.m.

Last year, Dominican Republic won two of three contests against the U.S., including a three-set victory in the bronze medal match of the 2006 Pan American Cup. The Americans won the final meeting last year, a four-game match in the FIVB World Grand Priz on Aug. 27 in Macau.

Cynthia Barboza, Jen Joines and reserve Marcie Hampton each recorded five kills. Setter Ah Mow-Santos provided 20 assists to lead the U.S. to a .294 team attack percentage.

Verania Willis and Karen Cope each recorded six kills for Costa Rica

The U.S. roster also includes former East High School standout Laura Tomes, a 6-foot 2-inch middle blocker who played at the University of Oklahoma.
