Solís on CNN To Protest TLC in Costa Rica
The public campaign against the Tratado Libre de Comercio (TLC) - free trade agreement with the United States - has been taken outside of Costa Rica, as Ottón Solís, leader of the Partido Acción Cuidadana (PAC), while visitng the United Sates, took time to send him message by way of CNN.

Many applaud his bravery to mount such an opposition, while others are quick to point out that Solís is not the "official" voice against the TLC, but just one of many who oppose the trade deal.

However, after it all said and done, those who oppose the TLC approved of the CNN interview and say that this is only the beginning, as Costa Ricans see the opposition to the trade deal well organized and their message makes it to the conscience of the public as the legislators get ready to debate the TLC.

According to Mayi Antillón, head of the Partido Liberación Nacional (PLN) in the legislature, legislators will be working overtime this week to clear the legislative agenda for the TLC, but first will have to pass a reform to the Reglamento Interno del Congreso (internal rules of the legislature) so that the discussion on the TLC will not last more than 22 sessions.

The PLN leader is confident that the majority of the legislators are positive on the trade deal and that the agreement will receive the yes vote from at least 38 legislators.
