Nicaraguans Protest Organic Law
Around half a thousand people demanded here the abolition of a law approved at the end of 2006 by the National Assembly for what they say is a violation of constitutional rights.

Demonstrators, who marched on the Supreme Court of Justice (CSJ), were convened by Movimiento por Nicaragua.

Once before the maximum authority of justice of the nation, the civic group charged as unconstitutional the so-called Organic Law of National Assembly.

According to Carlos Tunnermann, one of the protest organizers, the legislation has at least 15 points of conflict with the Nicaraguan constitution.

The Main concern of Movimiento por Nicaragua is related to article 52, which demands Nicaraguan citizens appear before Parliament in case they are called to give evidence.

If this is ignored, offenders might be accused with contempt of court.
