Spirit’s Sensational 8˘ Service to San José Sold Out Fast
How does eight cents (this is not a misprint) sound for an international discount airfare, an airfare to one of the planet’s ecotourism epicenters?

That was the price of a one-way ticket on discount airline Spirit from Fort Lauderdale (FLL) to San José (SJO) yesterday, as the airline announced the beginning of service in April.

To get the discount airfare, customers had to book and buy exceedingly fast seats on travel dates of  April 9, 12, 16, or 19; and from San Jose to Fort Lauderdale April 5 and 7, or May 3 and 10.

If you missed that sale, Spirit will continue to sell a us$69 one-way discount airfare from FLL to SJO good for travel April 5 through October 31; and from San Jose to Fort Lauderdale April 5 through October 31.

To latch onto this rate, book and buy by February 7 at Spirit's website.

Both the eight-cent and the us$69 discount airfares are predicated on round-trip purchases, and neither taxes nor fees are included in the quote. They’re extra, which can run up to us$125 per ticket each way

The discount airline announced it will start regular flights between  Fort Lauderdale to San José April 5 with three weekly departures – Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Service is set to go daily on May 23.

Costa Rican officials warned yesterday that the airline does not yet approval for flights to Costa Rica.

The airline expects to carry some 50.000 passengers a year on its service to Costa Rica.
