On His Knees 62 Year Old Man
Calls For World Peace
At 62 years of age, Rafael
Cascante Retana, decided to get
on his knees and make a two
kilometre trip to the Iglesia de
Alajuelita in the hopes of
bringing attention for the need
for peace, not only in Costa
Rica, but the entire world.
Accompanied by officers of the
Fuerza Pública's (police),
radiopatrulla 764, and two
bamboo canes, Cascante, a
resident of San Josecito de
Alajuelita, left his house at
6:30am and arrived at the steps
of the church at 9:30am.
Asked the reason for his action,
Cascante said that this is the
15th time he has made trip and
always on January 15th, the day
that celebrtes the Santo Cristo
de Esquipulas.
"It is all in a effort to call
the attention over the need for
all to strive for peace and find
a way to avoid violence, which
is a world problem. In Costa
Rica, violence is dividing
families and in the world, war
is dividing nations", said
Cascante.
Following his arrival at the
church, Cascante then attend
mass.
