Scare on Continental Flight
A total of 155 passengers of a
Continental Airlines flight
arriving at the Juan Santamaría
(San José) international airport
at 3:25pm, got the scare of
their lives as they had to be
evacuated from the aircraft
after flight attendance found an
unknown white powder substance
in one of the lavatories.
The flight, coming from Houston,
Texas, is one four daily flight
Continental has to San José.
The Cruz Roja (Red Cross) and
Bomberos (firefighters) were
immediately dispatched to the
scene and the airport went into
alert mode, as authorities
responded to the emergency.
The fear was that the powder
could be Anthrax.
Airport authorities have not
commented further on the
substance nor how it got there
or if left behind by one of the
passengers on board.
None of the passengers was
injured in the evacuation and
the airport returned to normal
operations in less than an hour.
