Cuba Announces New TV News
Channel
Cuba's new TV news channel ACN,
a new information support with a
dynamic vision of Cuban life,
was presented Thursday at the
8th National Written Press
Festival, which will conclude
Friday at the Havana Convention
Center.
Esteban Ramirez, general
director of Cuba s National
Information Agency (AIN), which
heads this project, said they
want to bring press material and
messages from Cuba to Cuban
collaborators abroad, mainly in
Bolivia and Venezuela.
ACN has an attractive design,
tested since August, with three
application modules and is
presently visible for 70,000
Cuban inhabitants living in
mountainous zones.
The signal is in a Hisposat ID
satellite, and the channel may
be seen by 15 million
Spanish-speaking family homes
linked to the satellite.
The goal of this new TV channel,
which will be gaining in quality
with new support, is to make the
Cuban reality better known and
foster exchange between Cuban
collaborators and their
families.
In the context of the 8th
Festival, a multimedia work,
conceived as a consulting work
for journalists, "Pasion Fecunda"
was presented with the most
important quotes of Cuban
President Fidel Castro from 1959
to 2005.
