Venezuela to Have Psychologist
VP
A few days before his
inauguration ceremony on January
10, Venezuelan President Hugo
Chavez has already begun a
governmental reshuffle by
appointing a new interior
minister and vice president, the
latter a psychologist.
Chavez named Jorge Rodriguez as
the new vice president of the
Republic, in substitution of
Jose Vicente Rangel, while
deputy Pedro Carreño will be the
new minister of interior and
justice.
When announcing the changes on
Contragolpe TV program last
night, Chavez added that Energy
and Oil Minister Rafael Ramirez,
also president of Petroleos de
Venezuela, will remain in the
post.
The president explained the
reorganization responds to an
"adjustment and revival of the
governmental team," which will
continue in the few coming days.
"Replacing Rangel was a hard
decision," he pointed out, and
added he had previously notified
him of the change in a letter,
in which he recognized Rangel s
firmness and commitment to the
Venezuelan revolutionary
process.
