Outgoing Nicaraguan President
Charged
The government of outgoing
president Enrique Bolaños, who
tried to paint his
administration as a pillar of
anticorruption, is facing
charges of irregularities and
mismanagement in several
ministers.
The report was made by members
of the commission of transition
designed by the elected
president Daniel Ortega who will
assume the Nicaragua presidency
on January 10.
The corruption may have included
payment of high wages to people
with false names,
misappropriation of funds and
excessive payments for auditing
and consultancy, according to
Orlando Nuñez.
The future official, to
coordinate of the hunger
prevention program boosted by
the Sandinista government,
assured that debts with the
payment of the social security
for workers were detected in all
the Ministries.
The outgoing management is
negotiating international
contracts that would limit the
new authorities with
transnationals of doubtful
corruption, according to Nuñez.
