TLC Priority For Government
Now that the holidays are over, life returns to normal in Costa Rica and the number one topic on hand is the Tratado Libre de Comercio (TLC) - free trade agreement with the United States - and the approval of the agreement, which there is no doubt obtain the required votes in the legislature.

The prediction by president Oscar Arias and his government is that the TLC will be approved, however, in the process it will have to face a number of protests and rebellions by opposing groups.

Protestors are expected to take to the streets to let their opposition felt by the government and Costa Ricans who support the trade deal.

But in the end, all will be for not, as the government and average citizens prepare for what they have known to be a reality for some time.
