Costa Rica to Cooperate with
Dominicans in Abating Energy
Crisis
Costa Rica’s ambassador Marta
Nuñez to the Dominican Republic
disclosed that her country
endeavors to formulate a
bilateral agreement that would
define and establish her
country’s cooperation to abate
the energy crisis that affects
the Dominican Republic.
In Costa Rica, she said,
everyone pays their energy bills
and said that, for example, a
large home with pool and
controlled temperature pays some
us$130 a month.
Lower income sectors are
coordinated in cooperatives for
energy supply and receive less
expensive service, without any
subsidies.
The diplomat affirmed that in
her country, 96% of energy is
clean, mostly generated by
hydroelectric, solar, or eolic
sources.
