EU Links
The European Union and Latin
America ad the Caribbean
Economic System (SELA) will
review the economic links in
this capital Monday at the half
way mark between the Vienna
bi-regional summits (2006) and
Lima (2008).
The Regional Seminar, organized
by the Latin American and the
Caribbean Economic System (SELA),
expects to evaluate the results
of the top-level meeting with
venue in the Austrian capital on
May 2006, focused on
inter-regional cooperation.
The meeting will tackle how to
link the sub-continent with the
foreign cooperation strategy the
EU planned for 2007-2013,
supported in a document adopted
by the European Commission last
December.
The participants will propose to
SELA s 26 member states the
possibility of undertaking joint
actions useful for the
preparation of Lima Summit
foreseen for May 2008.
The Seminar will consider a
draft bill for the debates
titled "From Vienna to Lima:
Monitoring of the economic and
cooperation relations between
the European Union and Latin
America and the Caribbean."
The meeting hopes to change the
bilateral relations drastically
and move toward better
conditions at the meeting in the
Peruvian capital.
