President Ortega Boosts Zero Hunger Program
Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega will lead the "Cero Hambre" (Zero Hunger) Program that will benefit 75,000 poor families in rural areas.

Sociologist Orlando Nunez said Parliament appointed him program advisor due to rumors on the media that the Councils would supplant the ministers and cause additional spending.

The president decided to assume the leadership to strengthen the 150 million dollar poverty-fighting program, guarantee food safety and sovereignty and reactivate the domestic market.

The food producing program will supply each household one cow, one pregnant pig, fowls, fodder, a mill and a manure processor to produce biogas.

The supplies will be paid half price and the funds will go to a savings bank they will found.
