Sandinista founder to be named
Nicaragua's ambassador to Peru
The General Vice Secretary from
Nicaragua's Sandinista National
Liberation Movement (FSLN in
Spanish), Tomas Borge, will be
named Nicaragua's new Ambassador
to Peru.
According to Nicaragua's
Ministry of Foreign Relations,
Borge (76), who is also the only
surviving founder of the Central
American Sandinista group, was
given the OK by Peruvian
President Alan Garcia to
represent his country in Peru.
Borge, who was formerly
Nicaragua's Interior Minister in
the 80's, is expected to be
sworn in during the next several
days.
Borge's wife, who fled Nicaragua
after growing tired of the
constant harassment from other
Nicaraguan political parties,
has been in living in Peru since
the beginning of 2006.
