Another Gas Price Hike On The
Way
The price of gasoline went up
yesterday, and already a request
for an additional hile was made
yesterday, as the Refinadora
Costarricense de Petroleo S.A. (Recope)
is asking the Autoridad
Reguladora de los Servicios
Públicos (ARESEP) for an
additional ¢22 colones for
regular and ¢19 colones for
super, in addition, the ARESEP's
approval yesterday of a 2.23% in
tax on gasoline products.
The price of gasoline jumped ¢11
colones for a litre of super at
the stroke of midnight Thursday
and ¢10 colones for regular.
When the new prices are approved
and come into effect, it will be
second price hike of the year
following a series of price
drops.
The price hike request has yet
to be approved by the ARESEP and
does not come into effect until
it is published in the official
government publication, La
Gaceta.
