Government Will Not Permit
Blockades Next Monday
The government said yesterday it
will guarantee the rights of the
protestors against the Tratado
Libre de Comercio (free trade
agreement with the United
States) that will be out on the
streets next Monday, but ti will
not permit blockades, said the
Ministro de Seguridad, Fernando
Berrocal Soto.
Chavéz Says Alunasa Closure is
Not Politically Motivated
Venezuelan president, Hugo
Chávez, reacted following
comments made by Costa Rican
president, Oscar Arias, and
assured that the closing of
Alunasa, a Venezuelan company
located in Costa Rica is not
politically motivated.

The Municipalidad de San José
announced yesterday its
ambitious investment plan for
this year to remodel buildings
and parks and the building of
more pedestrian walkways, along
with the opening of more artisan
centres and the illumination of
the Catedral Metropolitana.
Tourists Fight Back
Assailants, Killing One
A group of tourists that got off
the cruiseliner the Carnival
Liberty to take in the sights
and sounds of Limón decided to
fight back their attackers,
killing one of the assailants in
the process. Witnesses say that
some 12 North Americans were
involved in the attack against
the two men who attacked them
minutes before they were getting
ready to re-board the cruise
liner after a tour of the city.
