Honduran Jails Compare to Hell
Authorities of Honduras National
jails compare that center with
hell due to the number of
murders registered until today
in that place.
Only in the course of 2007 six
homicides took place in the
penal that join the 29 violent
deaths reported in the country
in 2006, according to official
statistics.
Although quietness seems to
reign in the capital, prisoners´
murder has become almost natural
in the last few months, admitted
the director Leonel Alexis
Ramos.
The situation of the prison is
worrying, we do not know how so
many deaths happen, said the RHN
Radio station official.
The jail count with five units
with 400 or 600 prisoners in
each despite of being built for
less than that.
Besides of being overcrowded,
the widespread unhappiness due
to the bad food: only beans,
rice, and tortilla that
represent the prisoners´
breakfast, lunch and dinner,
agreed some of the accused.
