Tremor Shakes Nicaraguan Pacific
An earth tremor of 4.6 on the
Richter scale shook the north
Pacific of Nicaragua on
Saturday, but neither victims
nor material damage were
reported, according to an
official source.
The release of Nicaraguan
Institute of Territorial Studies
says the tremor took place at
05:51 local time, off the
Fonseca Gulf, and 147 miles
northwest of Managua.
The epicenter of the tremor was
18 miles deep and according to
expert Martha Herrera the
tectonic processes are the
result of the crash of Cocos and
Caribe plates.
