Cuban Doctors to Advise
Nicaraguan Colleagues
Cuban physicians arriving in
Nicaragua in the coming weeks to
assist the population of the
Atlantic coast will also
contribute to the training of
their Nicaraguan colleagues,
Health Minister Maritza Cuan
informed.
Besides coming to render medical
assistance, the Cuban doctors
will be teachers, preparing us
in the medical field, or any
specialty in medicine, the
minister told press.
According to Cuan, who did not
announce the exact date on which
the doctors would arrive, this
is a way of making international
cooperation sustainable.
The Cuban medical brigade will
be composed of some 40 doctors,
who will work in the very poor
North and South Atlantic
autonomous regions, where most
inhabitants are Nicaraguan
indigenous people.
Arrival of the Cuban doctors is
part of the new cooperation
agreements that are currently
under discussion by Managua and
Havana in the ALBA framework
(Bolivarian Alternative for the
Americas).
