Yesterday Was Second Hottest Day
in Last Decade
As
most of the northern parts of
the United States and Canada are
going through a nasty cold
winter, yesterday Costa Rica the
second hottest day in ten years,
as temperatures reached as high
of 35C in Liberia, 29C in San
José and 26C in Cartago.
The record was confirmed by
Rosario Alfaro of the Instituto
Meteorológico Nacional (IMN) -
the weatherman - who explained
that a series of abnormal
conditions are the cause of the
high temperatures.
One of the reasons for the heat
is the weak winds, a condition
that is typical in March and not
in February. In San José
yesterday what was noticeable
absent was the light breeze.
Yesterday's record temperature
of 30.8C at the Juan Santamaría
(San José) international airport
was beaten by the 31.2C
registered in 1998.
