Panamanian Parties Registered New Members
The main Panamanian parties began on Saturday a national campaign to register the highest number of new members as part of their political strategies in the elections of 2009.

Monitoring by more than 300 officials of the electoral court, Cambio Democratico, the panameñistas, Union Patriotica, Vanguardia Moral de la Patria and the pro-government Democratic Revolutionary Party (PRD) opened their books to add members.

In the last weeks, the PRD and the opposition formations gave their first steps to the next presidential elections.

The policy parties began the mobilization of their forces and the preparation of the assembly for the battle that is coming.

A 47.6 percent of the Panamanians describe as a negative, the work of the opponent formations while barely a 36 percent backs it, a recent survey reported.

The opposition leader with greater support is Martinelli with a 33.8 percent, followed by Endara with 27.5 percent, according to a survey of the firm Dichter Neira.
