First melons from Costa Rica to arrive on February 7 at Levarht
The first watermelons and yellow honey dew melons of the brand ‘Sweet Kiss’ are underway from Costa Rica to the Netherlands again.

Levarht expects the arrival of the first containers on February 7. Around week 9 the assortment will be further complemented with Cantaloupe and Piel de Sapo melons of the same brand. Furthermore the first Galia melons of the brand Sweet Kiss are to arrive this year.

In Costa Rica Levarht operates from different growing areas, in Parita and Pilas de Cangel, optimizing the growing conditions for each variety and to minimize the risks of changing weather conditions.

This year the watermelon varieties grown are Quetzali, Mickey Lee and Seedless. The season for Costa Rica melons will run until half of May and the melons will be supplied from Varenkamp in Poeldijk. Furthermore, also mangos from Costa Rica are included in the program and there are year round programs for pineapple, cassava and chayote.

All products are packed in carton poxes with a plastic coating. The melons and exotic fruits are all EurepGAP certified. This year Levarht is intensifying the collaboration with growers to optimize the project coordination and results.
