Semana Santa Death Toll Reaches
29
Semana Santa is not over yet and
the death toll has already
reached 29, almost surpassing
last year's total of 33.
Of the deaths, twelve occurred
on the highways, eight in ocean
or rivers, six homicides and
three were beaten to death.
Of the twelve traffice
accidents, half were pedestrians
run over, four died in
collission and two when their
vehicles flipped over, according
to traffic police reports.
The statistics do not include
the figures for Saturday and if
the trend continues into today,
the total number for the Semana
Santa could be more than the
number of deaths registered last
year.
More numbers to ponder:
476
- the total number of reports to
911 for domestic violence
between Monday and Friday
132
- the number of collisions
throughout the country between
Monday and Friday
44
- the number of people rescued
by the Cruz Roja (Red Cross)
between last Sunday and
yesterday afternoon
72
- the number of vacations with
serious injuries during this
week
