Cuba to Send Best Athletes to PanAm Games
Cuba will send its best athletes to Rio de Janeiro, confirmed Jose Ramon Fernandez, president of the Cuban Olympic Committee, who went to a meeting of the Executive Committee of the Pan American Sport Organization in this Brazilian city.

Fernandez stated in an interview that the best Cuban athletes will come to Rio, with respect for their people, which convokes them, and also for respect to all participating countries.

He said that the Cuban delegation would be comprised by 500 athletes in 29 sports.

"Now they are under intensive training, to reach the best performances," he said.

"We are convinced that each of our athletes will do all right in Rio, as much as our technicians, doctors and psychologists," he stated.

Of course, our athletes will respect their contenders in and out of the playground and will embrace their friends in this continent, he said.

He remembered Cuban leader Fidel Castro fostered sports from the very beginning in Cuba, and from then on, the Cuban people practices sports and massive participation is guaranteed.

He assured sport talents who have possibility to train in institutions from sports schools up to academies and universities, come from that massive participation.
