Jesus Christ Arrives in Costa
Rica
Travelling on a commercial
airliner, José Luis Miranda, a
Puerto Rican who calls himself "Jesucristo
Hombre" arrived from Miami
yesterday afternoon at the Juan
Santamaría (San José)
international airport, to the
arms of a handful of believers.
In the style of the television
series "Miami Vice", he was
wearing dark glasses, a baseball
cap, a gold chain and a Rolex
watch. The small crowd braved
the afternoon rain to welcome
the man who describes himself as
a modern Jesus Christ.
Miranda will be at the Cine
Magaly in San Pedro this weekend
to preach his gospel.
Miranda affirms that he will
never die as he is the "son of
God", though he was surrounded
by more bodyguards than the
Costa Rican president, keeping
his followers who praised his
arrival in Costa Rica to close
distance.
"The Catholics and Protestants
have lied to us, they are not
ready for my arrival, as I came
like a thief in the night, as
the Bible says. They are so far
from the truth that they believe
the world will end with my
arrival... I am surprising
nations because they don't know
I am on Earth", said Miranda,
who rejects being an impostor or
fake, calling the Pope a liar,
as was Peter the Apostle, who
have been lying to the people
for the last two thousand years.
One follower wore a t-shirt that
said "ROME LIED".
Miranda had been hailed by the
Ministerio Internacional
Creciendo en Gracia as the real
thing, and has been spreading
his message on radio, television
and of course, the internet. The
group raises money through
merchandise sales.
Miranda's own children have
qualified his a fake and a
fraud, who say their father
lives off the money good people
send for him to live
aristocratically. However,
Miranda said yesterday that his
children have not accepted him.
Miranda came to Costa Rica
accompanied by his wife,
however, the woman did not have
a visa to enter Costa Rica and
was turned away. Miranda said he
considered going back with her,
but chose however to stay.
Miranda is said to manage a fund
worth some us$100 million
dollars from donations, who he
says he does not touch, but
rather is in the hands of his
bishops. "Happiness does not
come from money, only in the
knowledge of how much God loves
you", said Miranda who claims to
have only us$4.000 in his cheque
book, not counting the us$2.000
the Costa Rican bishop, Edgar
Cancel, had just given him on
his arrival.
Asked about is expensive tastes,
like the Rolex watch, the man
who calls himself the 'son of
God' said it is only a watch and
uses it much because it tells
him the time.
Some quotes attributed to
Miranda:
"Jesus Christ the man lives
within me"
"The Pope is a false prophet"
"The cross is the symbol of the
curse"
"Don't judges by appearances or
what comes out of our mouth.
Look at the work"
"There is no sin, it was taken
out. My father, who lives in me,
said so"
