Silvio
Delights Dominican Audience
Just a few singers in the world
may share with a more than a
thousand-voices chorus, knowing
by heart all his songs, a
privilege the Cuban song-writer
Silvio Rodriguez enjoyed
Saturday in the Dominican
Republic' National Theater.
The eagerly-expected
presentation, attended by
various generations defying the
high prices, served as perfect
stage to add new stanzas to his
already classical song "Cita con
Angeles".
The new verses written by
Dominican minstrel Jose Antonio
Rodriguez pays homage to the
heroes of the historical April
Revolution, frustrated by the US
invasion in 1965.
Silvio Rodriguez delighted the
Dominican audience accompanied
by his wife, the flutist Niurka
Rodriguez and the trains of
Trovarroco Trio in a spectacle
presented by his old friends
Sonia Silvestre, Jose Antonio
Rodriguez and Victor Victor.
The audience, excited, intensely
enjoyed each song and availed
itself of this special and
unique opportunity to share with
an idol absent for 14 years.
