Months Preventive Detention For
Two Youths Who Attacked
Classmate
Violence in public school has
become an important issue over
the past week, following the
attack of 12 year old Tatiana
Jarquín Cortés by her
classmates. Yesterday, the
Juzgado Penal Juvenil de San
José (San José juvenile court)
ordered two of the four youths
involved in the attack to two
months of preventive detention
(jail).
Monteverde
Massacre Perpetrator Accepts
Charges and Waives Trial For a
Reduced Sentence
Erlyn Hurtado, the only living
assailant of the Banco Nacional
massacre last year in Monteverde,
accepted the charges against him
by the Fiscalía (prosecutor) in
exchange for a reduced sentence.
